Crispy toasted baguette topped with juicy, tender steak makes an easy but elevated BBQ appetizer. Finished with chimichurri, garlic butter, or horseradish sauce, these crostini feel special without adding much extra work.
1 lb steak, such as ribeye, New York strip, or sirloin
• 1 baguette
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tsp kosher salt
• 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
• Chimichurri, garlic butter, or horseradish sauce for topping
Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch pieces and lightly brush both sides with olive oil.
2. Grill the bread for 1–2 minutes per side, until lightly toasted and crisp.
3. Season the steak with salt and pepper.
4. Grill the steak to your preferred doneness, then remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5–10 minutes.
5. Slice the steak thinly against the grain.
6. Place a few slices of steak over each toasted baguette piece.
7. Finish with chimichurri, garlic butter, or horseradish sauce.
8. Serve warm.
